Discover Modavie
Modavie is a timeless place that brings us back to our roots, where ladies & gents gather and eat in a lively atmosphere caused by great conversation, live music and the wooden scents of a vintage room. Born in 1997, it quickly became popular among locals & visitors, and is now considered a Montreal institution.
“Modavie has been home to our loyal neighbours & visitors for the last 25 years.”
Treat yourself to refined French fare in an antique & dimmed corner locale spawning two floors. From the classic beef tartare, to tasty sweetbread, to the famous ratatouille, your cravings will be easily satiated.
The Chef
Come visit & try his favourites; sweetbread, garlic snails, duck confit & his famous apple pie. … and if you see him, say hi !
Meet Jean-Michel Luc, the Chef behind your most favourite concoctions
Foodie at heart, Jean-Michel’s passion for cooking was passed on from his mother & grandmother.
His curiosity for delicious flavours started at a young age and only increased over the years, pushing him to perfect his craft and find his first job in a restaurant at only 12 years old. He obtained his Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) training permit, which allowed him to travel twice as a supporter to Bocuse d’Or in Lyon, France.
He also assisted in the G7 summit as a Sous-Chef at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu and participated in many events with Rougié Foie Gras. In his 2 years of working at Modavie, Jean-Michel elaborated a menu consisting of homemade French classics topped with his personal touch.
